Yesterday I saw lots of Yarrow on my lunch-time walk between Huntingdon and Great Stukely - I'd not noticed before how attractive the pink version is. There was also lots of Bristly Ox-tongue, but my Flower of the Day was some White Campion still in flower.

As I was walking through a field near Turville, Bucks., this afternoon I saw some lovely Common Toadflax. I wasn't surprised to see it, as one of the reason's it's a favourite of mine is that it flowers so late in the year. However I then spotted what has to be my FotD growing next to it - some Dark Mullein. I see a lot of this at Whipsnade Heath just a mile or so from where I live, but that's been over for many weeks now. So I was very surprised to see at least eight spikes of it in full flower in this field. The Francis Rose book says it flowers June-September, so I guess its only a few weeks late. Dark Mullein, Turville

Nice to see some Herb Robert still flowering today, near Radnage, Bucks. But my FotD is Field Pansy, just a couple of flowers between Radnage and Bledlow Ridge.
