I was taking a photo of this lop sided Panaeolus and did not notice the plant till looking at the photo later. What is the plant on the right hand side. approx. 3cm tall and seems to have long narrow leaves from the stem, think it is reddish brown buds. I don't think it is a sorrel, leaves too narrow and straight. Any ideas please as to what the plant is, growing on pasture - very muddy and wet.

Definitely a sorrel + from what I can see I would say Sheep's Sorrel, Rumex acetosella, though this is generally on drier, acidic soils.

Thanks aeshna. It is wet acid soil and I have lots of sheep's sorrel - I guess I did not recognise this one as it was so small - smaller than the fungi. Generally our sheep's sorrel is quite tall before it gets it's buds.
