Any chance of a section specifically for camera trap users ? There only seems to be one resource on the net and it is full of techy stuff rather than wildlife study. Have added a poll ( I think) to judge support

I don't have a camera trap but would certainly be interested to see the results you get Notpop.

Would this mean you'd need to be able to upload videos, or just provide links to them?
It would be interesting to see what sort of things you get.

Hi Rownaberry, Personally I keep my cameras set to take stills and would upload these. If there is no facility to upload video,it would be possible to use stills from videos to illustrate a point such as this roe showing the erectile capability of the hairs all along it's back when alarmed, and not just it's white 'target' which is normally thought of as the alarm sign. Or as you say,a link could be used. EK000370 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Traps can also illustrate small stuff such as this field vole, birds on feeders or in nest boxes and many more situations. I think we could develop a very interesting section and encourage wider use of these wonderful tools. EK000642 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Those are really interesting photos... I think a camera trap section would be a good idea. I wish sometimes knew what the foxes got up to in our garden at night!

I like the idea, mine trap mainly badger and pine martens, though once got a tawny. Mine are all videos, but I do sometimes take stills from videos.

Here is one from late last month. Sometimes climbing just goes all wrong. After it has run off it finds out it cannot get away in that direction, so it comes hurtling back to escape the 'nasty' log. Its experience did not put it off as it was back in about ten minutes. Dave PS If you have the sound turned up please be aware that YouTube will start another, random, video after this one finishes. It could be anything and is likely to be much louder. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl157m4iknY

Ouch- poor badger! We'll get a camera trap forum added later this week, since everyone is in favour of it... we'll probably put it under photography.

Good to hear there will be a camera trap/trail camera forum. I'm interested in what others capture.
The badger was fine; I think they are pretty tough.
Both they and the pine martens are really packing the food away just now.

Great news as regards a camera trap section. As a new member can someone remind me where to upload camera trap pics,i.e. do we have a flickr page now or should pics be included in posts ?

Not sure if a dedicated section has or is being created, but you can upload pics direct to a post, if you check the topic linked below you'll see that for financial reasons it's preferred if you use an image hosting site, (such as Flickr. Photobucket et al). Clicky

It's been done... Snowlynx created a new board for Camera Traps under the Photography section today.
