Yesterday myself and the BF were out in the back garden, when we heard the crow making an almighty fuss about something. We stood and watched, and were astounded when we saw what looked like a BIG bird of prey fly over, with several crows in hot pursuit. He ran back indoors for the camera, and by the time he came back it had flown quite high, until one by one the crows gave up. As it continued to wheel about, we realised that now there were two buzzards- doing a synchronised duet together, flying around and around with their wingtips nearly touching. They were far too high for the camera to find and focus on, but here is the best photo of the first buzzard with one of the crows, and the same bird enlarged. Amazing to see such a thing! Interesting, I've yet to see the local ones this year!

One thing I noticed when moving to Swindon 2 years ago, more Buzzards than anywhere else! I drive around Wiltshire and Somerset a lot and pretty much see one every day.

Not unusual to see 7 or more at a time when soaring around over the valley near Peasedown St John.

Buzzards do seem to be doing well here in the Chilterns (and I believe they're doing well elsewhere). It's unusual if I go for a long walk and don't see at least one Buzzard. I often see them over the valley behind our house, and I've seen them in all the neighbouring villages too.
Only a few years ago, I though I needed to go to places like Wales or the Lake District to see them.

I think they may be the commonest BOP in the UK.
Nevertheless, not many in London. Certainly a notable species.

I see my local Buzzards on my local patch in north-west London suburbs virtually every visit (+ increasingly Red Kite), though didn't see them this morning, though another observer who visited later saw them as well as a pair of Hobby + a distant Peregrine.
Quite a few pairs now breeding in the outer reaches of London. Nice to see + good photos.

Great to see, they are certainly doing very well at the moment across much of Britain. This bird is a sub-adult bird so may not necessarily be tied to your specific area and could be moving around quite a bit.
