Had to do a long drive yesterday, so plenty of time to observe. The bracken for instance is only just beginning to turn to golden and only in a few places. The trees - some are definitely getting their autumn colours up top, but to my surprise some of the ash, rowan and alders appear to be opening new leaves. My ash trees here have developed that bright green new growth look towards the ends of each branch as has my sycamore. Even some of the fir trees appear to be showing new growth. Is it me who has got my seasons mixed up? I have welsh poppies blooming again but the rowans have yet to fruit. Some of my garden plants that had already bloomed a couple of months ago are doing so again. I know we here have had an exceptionally wet Spring and Summer, maybe some of the plants and trees think it is Spring as we have had some dry and intermittent sunny weather. Just a thought
