I was out on my first autumn water vole survey this morning and spotted this under a bridge, quite dried and greyish now (no smell) and it did look like there may be bones in it. Looking closer now there appear to be some circular bits, possibly seeds? I was guessing otter spraint at first but the circular bits raised some doubts, any ideas? Sorry I cannot give an ID. I think the only way is to collect it, try to separate out the bits in water perhaps and have a closer look with a magnifying glass. As it was under a bridge would it have been protected from rain? Whereabout in the country was this find?

Dave Derbyshire Dales, not seen otter spraint there before but I have found mink footprints - sure it isn't mink though. Shirl

You are a star, that dried up one gave me a clue but it's always good to get some confirmation, first time I have seen otter signs there so pretty exciting, not a water vole sign anywhere there so hope the rest of my autumn surveys are going to improve. Shirl
