This one stayed for ages on the oregano which has started to flower. I took photos of it, then went in to get a ruler to measure it... didn't bother it in the slightest. (oregano blossoms must be very nice!) It was between 1 to 1.5cm.

I am normally the one asking for IDs so maybe I should answer this one for you. This is the Mint Moth or Pyrausta aurata. One of my favorite little moths that seem to have permanent residence in my polytunnel.

Origanum is one of the food plants + they use this in my garden to breed. When fresh a pretty moth indeed.

That's great- thanks for the id, and the info... this is the first time I've seen one on the oregano, but will keep an eye out now to see if there are any more on it.
