! I had never seen a hedgehog in the wild, but last weekend was staying at a friend's place and looking after her cat... I was sitting out in her back garden (which is made up of paving slabs) one evening. I could see something trundling back and forth and realised what it was- she had told me there was a hedgehog living under the next-door neighbour's shed, so it must have found a way in through the fence. I had a packet of mealworms that I'd bought earlier in the day, so I put some out in a dish and then sat and watched it eat. Amazing little creatures.

That's always a treat to see, our adult and a young one are both out under the bird feeders every evening now, they must like the bird food better than slugs despite having rather a lot of slugs in the garden, maybe they like a varied diet or maybe it's because they don't have to hunt for the bird food, it's just there.

Good job rowanberry Not always easy to see nowadays because of the big decline. Hope they make a bit of a come back as they're great creatures to see. Nige

Nice find. It's been on my UK wishlist for 12 years!
