This also found in Glasdum North Atlantic Oakwood Forest. Looks like a herb but cannot place it Hi Nelly, I love the Woundworts having encountered some splendid Stachys sylvatica recently, great to see another species. I don't suppose you have any more pictures of this one, or a higher res' one that you might share - a very interesting plant for me, thanks for the post. p.s. Thanks for the ID aeshna, I love the Stachys in general although I've only 'met' one type thus far - fascinating and complex plants.

Yes John + the 2 species do readily hybridise when in close contact. Hedge is much darker flower + the leaves have long petioles. The Marsh has much pinker + more showy flowers + the leaves sessile (which they appear to be in Nelly's photo so probably is the species) whereas the hybrid resembles the latter much more though usually has a short petiole.

Thank you Aeshna. John I do have more photos. Will post later using iPad at the moment and don't have access to my photos. I am still not sure how many photos you can post at one time? Will have a go as I have photos of both marsh and hedge I think.

Here you are John have posted link to file on my dropbox - hope it works, if not will post photos separately when I get back to my computer. Couple of photos very blurred but shows where they were growing. Are you interested in herbal/herb plants, if so can give you link to growers on the Black Isles - all wild plants grown to with stand adverse weather conditions.

Hi Nellie and thanks, I don't think the link you've kindly given is working (as a link) as nothing happens when it's 'clicked'.... Thanks for the pictures though, they'll be very interesting. Herbs - I don't really have any interest in the healing or cooking uses of herbs I'm ashamed to say... Thank you anyway. Keep up the interesting posts, you're encouraging me to have a go at some quick posts of plants I see around & about too!
