Well, as usual I will be watching out for it next week, the peak is the 13th but there should be lots of activity the day before and after. All we need now is clear skies, and that doesn't happen often here in Derbyshire when it's meteor time.

Thank you for the reminder Shirl, I shall keep an eye out and as the moon is very close to new on the 12th, it could be good.
However, I don't hold out much hope for myself. My record with meteor showers is abysmal.
Over many years of looking at the night sky I have seen -
all the naked eye planets, lots of deep sky objects, one minor planet, three comets,
but no meteor showers (cloudy skies every time)
Still I hope for something beter this year and good luck all who give it a go.

August has never been that good for clear skies here, you stand more chance of seeing meteors in the winter. Looking at the forecast it doesn't look good for seeing them yet again. We can but hope.

Awake anyway in the early hours - clear skies here (NE Cumbria) - saw one meteor in 30 - 40 minutes before the cold drove me back indoors.

Looks like it's tonight if there is any spotting to be done in Derbyshire, the next couple of nights do not look clear at all. Fingers crossed

We were very lucky to see quite a few from 11pm on the 12th to the early hours of the 13th, a couple were quite a bit larger so you could clearly see a ball with a tail streaking behind. It was great to see but of course short lived, last night 100% cloud cover.

Might have a clear spot for 2 hours on Saturday night at 22:00 if lucky.

Might have a clear spot for 2 hours on Saturday night at 22:00 if lucky. We can but hope, there should be a few stragglers around then, tonight is definitely not a meteor watch night
