This was growing on junction of coastal road amid very small red poppies (Moray Coast) all the wild flowers here seemed smaller than usual - insufficient nutrients. Can you ID this one please - you can see how small it was by my fingers holding back surrounding plants. . by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Hi Nelly, wow, you really get around, I love your industry - you're giving us loads of good plants to examine - keep it up! It looks, I think, like a 'forget-me-not' Myosotis arvensis, but I really may be quite wrong... I think this may be the one - Forget-me-not, hope this is right...

No John you are absolutely right - mugsey here was getting confused. I was taking photos of a changing Forget-me-not, same patch and when I saw this wee thing I just assumed it was different - think it must have got a bit stunted as all that was showing was what is in the photo - of course it is Forget-me-not Myosotis arvensis. Just for interest here is the changing one - I had taken a weeks holiday other side of Scotland NE up the Moray coast 'the knuckle', hoping the weather would be better than here NW - never been so far up that side before and was fascinated by all the different wild flowers and grasses not seen on this side. Had not appreciated just how different the environments are (live and learn). It has taken me weeks trying to identify all the photos taken and now have me stumped. The coastal area must be heaven for wild flower enthusiasts. Still prefer my side - mountains and rugged terrain - just have to put up with the rain Changing Forget me Not by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Aha - I spent a week on the Scottish coast last month (Port William) and managed to spend 4 days studying the local population of Silene dioca (Red Campion) - most of the weather was lovely, in a cottage right on the coast, literally. Great when exploring a very different area, I live further down in Cumbria - Lake District - fells, waterfalls, screes, rocky summits, woodland, etc etc - it's like Christmas every day!
