It is a wild flower but not native. Very common naturalised plant (probably not so common your way) often seen on walls, shingle, etc. It's Red Valerian, Centranthus dioica, which comes in pink, red + white coloured forms.

I wonder if it's dioecious like the red campion (Silene dioica), as the name may suggest.... Have you seen any male or female flowers and or plants?

Actually John I gave the wrong scientific name. Have a bad back which must be clouding my brain. It is correctly Centranthus ruber.
