Has anyone else made a dead hedge?
We used to burn the the wind damaged branches, twigs and pruned bits from the garden but recently made a dead hedge.
A few stouter cut branches were hammered into the ground like fence posts in two rows and the other bits filled in the gap between.
It is now only about a couple of metres long and will give a bit of protection for plants on the leeward side and we hoping it will provide shelter for small birds and other animals.

Don't have the space but a great idea, we leave the shrubs alone till spring for cover and throw the dying banana leaves behind a fatsia bush at the back of the pond I'm sure it will fill with bugs snails and frogs over winter. Then rot down and feed the fatsia, bamboo and ferns ian
