A hedgehog. A hedgehog(or perhaps more than one) has visited the back garden for the last few years. The last time the trail camera caught one was November but one appeared a couple of nights ago.

Recorded my 1st hedgehog of the year yesterday (trailcam). I'd assumed they'd have ended hibernation some time ago but since next door "scorched earth" their garden last year they've become rare (literally, before the devastation frequent visitors but immediately after the "scorched earth devastation" they virtually disappeared, overnight).

Went outside for a bit to listen to the bats. 1st time this year. For many years, round the house I've only had Common Pipistrelles. Last night recorded some Soprano pipistrelles. Still a common species but nice to at least have some diversity creeping back in.

Fox yesterday & today. Yesterday I was watching one the other side of the tracks at White City Station while I waited for a tube & today one outside the electric fence on the grazing marsh at the London Wetland Centre.

A large Grey Seal loafing at the edge of the river on the opposite side to me, while a Common Seal was actively fishing much closer to me.

A quick walk through the woods yesterday and the magpies were making a bit of noise along with the sparrow hawk, scanning the tree tops I couldn't see anything but as I looked down there was a scrawny looking little fox 30/40 feet behind me on the path. There still a bit of a novelty here not often seen or heard ian

Only recorded one wild mammal species in Albania but was new for me despite this being my fourth tour there. In the second part of the tour we stay in the north of the country in part of the Dinaric Alps- where on tours we were able to see several Chamois on the mountainside opposite by our guest house.

Mammal of the night the local five o were out in their chopper last night 10-30ish bit of a ruck in a near by park. So I'm having a nose out the window when movement caught me eye a hedgehog on the grass a bit early I thought. It took a couple of steps into the road and changed it's mind turned around and hurried back towards the wood, a good choice we've had two killed within 50ft of the house so far this year. Then around 2am such a squeal woke me up and the puppy nearly hit the top of her cage a fox must have been right under the window ian

Thanks, Aeshna.
As with all of my wildlife shots it was all luck. I was in the right place at the right time.
She has has been around most nights for the last couple weeks, usually with her offspring.
