Is it too early for young magpies to be out of the nest? I ask because we have one in and out of the garden that looks adult but hasn't got the full tail feathers just like fledglings.
I think it's too early for young and it's one of last years young being seen of by it's parents, I couldn't make out the other day when it was up against the french windows if it was being fed or attacked by the 2 adult birds. ian

I'm no expert but according to my BWP: Eggs laid 12-24 Apr (Northern England) Incubation 21-24 days Fledging 24-30 days
Doing the math using the earliest/shortest numbers (remembering my very error prone numerical abilities) 27 May.
But these days spring is earlier than when BWP was published/updated. But I think April was cold (at least East Anglia felt cold but I've recently got back from a few months in India so maybe the contrast skewed my temperature sensitivity).
