I found this in the garden yesterday morning, and I'm presuming a hawk kill? I've not seen a sparrowhawk take a pigeon before, but I'm guessing it is possible, (I saw a video a few years ago of one drowning a magpie in a pond.) It certainly seems to have made a thorough job of plucking it- the larger wing and tail feathers were in the comfrey patch, and a larger area in the grass was covered with smaller downy feathers. I'm going to have feathers in the grass for weeks, probably. 01 Feathers Apr 2022 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr 02 Feathers Apr 2022 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Sparrowhawks regularly take pigeons, particularly but not exclusively by females. Everyday on FB I see images of a Sparrowhawk with a pigeon of some sort in somebody's garden.
