Does anyone know if there has been an influx of starlings to SE England?
I was walking today in east London and there were a couple of big flocks of starlings. I counted 40 in one flock before they flitted, but there were quite a few more.
I've seen flocks in summer of juvenile birds but not noticed flocks at the time of the year before.
I would not have thought birds would be moving into the UK now from continental Europe, but there have been some easterly winds recently.

Around my way I often see large flocks of Starlings. In the local country park I often see 100+ on the sports turf & at Warren Farm we've had up to 200 birds feeding. Some of these may have been wintering birds that haven't yet departed.

I've just read on the Lincs birders twitter page of over a quarter of a million starlings reported at Gibraltar point yesterday ian
