We did out watch earlier today.
There were fewer species than in other years.
The three top birds were
Great tit Goldfinch House sparrows
Although goldfinches were in the top three there weren't many of them, in the hour we saw only four, once. A few years ago the goldfinches would have been in double figures.
The highlight of the hour was something we could not record for the watch. For a few minutes, high above the garden, a buzzard was being harried by a carrion crow.

I don't know what's happened to our goldfinches- they never have reappeared, and this time last year we had dozens.

I don't do it 'small garden' I never can tell if it's the same birds coming and going I know at this moment we have lots of blue tits 1 or 2 pair of great tits a family of long tailed tits and the odd coal tit visiting. Still plenty of blackbirds a robin or 2, at least a pair of dunnock, a wren and who can count the sparrows I don't count the ruddy pigeons it's a pain trying to keep them off the feeding platforms and eating it all. I'll put extra out in the bad weather, softy that I am ian
