The birds were a long way off and against a grey sky so this shot is just a silhouette and is heavily cropped.
I know what the bird on the left is but can anyone identify or make a guess at the one on the right?
It looks like a BoP to me but I don't think it has quite the right look for a peregrine. Sparrowhawks occur here too but it doesn't look right and the two were high above and a long way out over Loch Ewe, so I would not have thought a sparrowhawk would have pursued the eagle so far, but I am not an expert on either BoP.
Thanks

The White-tailed Eagle is pretty obvious!! The other bird is clearly a falcon to me, so immediately rules out a Sparrowhawk which has a totally different shape. Have to say I would say Peregrine. Kestrel would have a longer tail in proportion. Merlin can have similar shape to Peregrine but is considerably smaller than one & I think size in relation to the eagle would rule that out.

Thanks Aeshna.
Having looked at a lot more photos and videos I am moving more towards peregrine, from general shape and the size compared to the WTE.
It was a delight to be able to watch the eagle for about 10 minutes and to see it being harried.
