I found this today on the top of a storage cabinet we have in the garden.
We had house sparrow nesting in a box about 7 metre away from where I found it and young blue tits, great tits and goldfinches are, at present, numerous in the garden now.
It is clearly a young bird but I thought it looked too young to have fledged so could not work out how it had got there, but did wonder if a recently fledged bird could have lost a lot of feathers in the severe rain we had yesterday.
The size of the body is about 7cm from tip of beak(which looks a bit big for a small bird) to the opposite end.
All ideas welcomed.
Thanks
Dave

A pigeon squab was my first thought too.

Thanks all.
There aren't any pigeon nests nearby, though wood pigeons are daily visitors to the garden.
I haven't seen a sparrowhawk around the garden for some times but sightings are much more frequent than few years ago so perhaps one grabbed a nestling and then dropped it.
I wondered if a jay(there are a few around) or a carrion crow(lots of these) could have dropped it.
