I know most on this site will do this any way but for newer members just starting on wildlife watching It's good we have all these posts about dogs in hot cars but don't forget to put water out for the birds and other animals will love it as well but make sure you put some rocks/stones in as well so insects small mammals etc can escape from water

On really hot days I make sure that the hosepipe is left hanging over the edge of the bird bath, on a slow continual drip. If the starlings or blackbirds come for a bath, they can just about half-empty it, so that way I know it will top up again...and stay clean, too.

We have loads of water butts dotted around and I put long sticks in them just in case something gets in and can't get out

Good point, Faz.
I'm in NW Scotland now and even here animals need water. For a few years we have used a trail camera and it is still a little surprising that the noctural visitor almost always have a drink from the water we provide.
