Mine were dust bathing on what should be the bog garden by the pond. It's normally wet but the awful cold easterly winds which have damaged so many plants in the garden have dried it up. After the sparrows had finished there was a cat rolling around in it. Had about 30 House Sparrows yesterday in the garden but haven't seen any Goldfinches here for a few days.

No, our goldfinches vanished for a while too- but there were four or five of them in the garden briefly around lunchtime.
I don't know where they go, but they become very scarce for a few months- and then suddenly I'm back to filling the nyger seed feeders again.
