It's unseasonably warm today, and the sun is even out... I took advantage of the weather to tidy up around the pond a little today.
A few signs of spring there, too- I can see the hornwort isn't huddled on the bottom anymore- it's started a gradual reaching up towards the surface of the water.
I can't seen any frogs, but I'm sure there are a few down there waiting.
When we had snow last week, I poured a kettle of boiling water onto the frozen-over pond, (I read somewhere it's a good idea to keep air holes open on hard-shelled ponds... something to do with helping it stay oxygenated?) and I saw a very small newt swimming about beneath the ice. Amazing how they can survive such low temps!
