Hello everyone, I found this pellet whilst out for a walk on near Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. Im pretty sure they don't have (many!) barn owls or tawny owls on the island. Any clues what might have left it at the bottom of a sign post? I realise its difficult (impossible?) to ID without dissecting it and having a look at what its been eating so thanks for having a stab at it. Thanks for your help. T

Thanks Alan. I guess it will remain a mystery in this case as I left it in place after taking the picture. I did see ravens about in the area so seems like a good shout. It was found in a strip of dune grassland between a beach and some hard standing, lots of evidence of rabbits, rats and small rodents about.
