Hi everyone, I've seen these strange deposits in the field to the side of our home, these had been appearing over a 3 week period and in 2 different parts of the field. I've lived in the country most of my life but never seen this before. The deposits have a grey coloured material in them, almost like ash, but the deposits sit on top of the grass in a white substance. Very odd, although I am sure its something obvious that I just haven't noticed before. www.flickr.com/photos/191118860@N02/albums Thanks Gav

Link does not work for me. Gets an "Opps". Take the two weird characters of the link (that don't appear in the text displayed)and you get "As soon as Gav Howard puts the camera down, we may have an album to view."
Link above is actually "https://www.flickr.com/photos/191118860@N02/albums%C2%A0" (i.e. the two weird characters on the end)

I don't know Flickr but if you've uploaded the image the displayed messages suggest it's not been made public.

I can't see the images but I suspect from your description they are a slime mould.

Oh dear sorry about that, I thought I'd made the photos public. I think the link should now work, www.flickr.com/photos/191118860@N02/ I am sure you are right aeshna5 - slime mould, I have never seen this before, very peculiar indeed and it seemed as though they had moved overnight. Well I have learned something. Thanks Gav
