Things are looking up, found a Juvenile Peregrine falcon feather.
I forgot to say I collect feathers, although mainly raptor, owl, and covid, well someone has to, seriously though it’s possible to tell a few things about the bird in question from the study of its feathers providing it’s not been lost too long.

Well done! I've not found a good feather in ages- one from a bird of prey is always a good find. My collection is mainly made up of the jays' blue shoulder feathers, a few hawk feathers, and several from our Greater Spotted Woodpeckers. The goldfinches sometimes drop a few around the nyger feeder, but they're such tiny things I usually end up losing them.

I thank you Rowanberry, incidentally I’ve now added Barn owl and adult red kite primary (P7) to my list of collected feathers, being 17 inches long. Alan

Those are all wonderful finds, Alan! Mine is nothing so grand as a Red Kite feather, but yesterday we went to Stanmore Country Park and I was picking up acorns... I do this every year to dry and put out mid-winter on the bird table for the jays, (it's what got them started on coming to our garden.) That's how I happened to spot this jay feather, just by coincidence. Acorns and Feather Aug2020 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr
