A few weeks ago I posted a video for confirmation it was a Common Shrew (which it was). Placed the camera back in the area for a few days and recorded the shrew active through the night (though I've not timed intervals). Left in a well protected hedgerow or rather hedgerow either side of shallow ditch so well protected from e.g. predatory birds. But Common Shrew is said to need to feed every 2 or 3 hrs so, does that frequency include through the day because I've not recorded it during the day (small birds are recorded ok) and a shrew active daytime must be a risk.
From what I can see (online) they only take short rest periods so is it just the trail cam is less sensitive in daylight or does their foraging behaviour change during the day?

When I've seen or more often heard shrews there usually scurrying about under the leaf litter only popping up here and there I often see dead ones in the middle of the footpaths in the woods here, they live their lives at a hundred miles an hour and their lights just go out. ian
