Good morning, everyone... I found this on the path in the garden about 10 minutes ago, and am hoping to find out what it is before I release it, (or not, depending.) We've had an invasion of processionary moths in the woods nearby, and I've tried doing searches for what this one is, (it doesn't look quick the same, but I realise they can vary.) It also looks similar to a Red Admiral caterpillar, but I'd prefer to be sure about it's identity! I don't want to let it go and discover that wasn't a good idea. I'm not very good at caterpillar identification but it looks a bit like a peacock caterpillar.
Does it have orange pro legs?

Not really orange... more yellow-ish, and the red and blue bump-like dots down it's back don't seem to be on the peacock butterfly caterpillar.
They are redder than they appear in the photo- should have taken it in sunlight.

It's a Gypsy Moth caterpillar. This species was extinct in the UK but a continental form is now very well established in the London area & beyond. In numbers they can totally defoliate some trees.
