On Tuesday I listened to the BBC Radio 4 programme The Last Songs of Gaia by Verity Sharp, looking at the ways sound artists, composers and singers record, notate and work with birdsong to remember extinct or declining species. The interviewees were mainly overseas, from New Zealand to Central America, but obviously the theme is important for the British Isles as well.
