Good afternoon everyone, just how far across (radius )a pond do the bubbles raise the oxygen levels?
Cheers, Tony.

That's sort of 'how long is a piece of string' sort of question, surely it depends on how powerful the aerator pump is & how much area/volume of water you're trying to oxygenate.
The easy answer is 'all of it', to some degree, since the bubbles cause circulation, but realistically you obviously need to fit the pump size to the volume of water.
e.g I've got a 50 watt air pump 'supplementing' a 15,000 litre koi pond oxyengation, and a 4 watt one providing oxygenation & circulation for a 300 litre frog pond.
Don't think 'radius' comes into it, it's the volume that matters ?

I was wondering about the oxygen levels of our pond today... it's absolutely teeming with tadpoles this year, and I'm concerned that if the weather warms up it might become depleted.
I've thought about getting a pond spitter, (one of those with a solar panel) just to see if agitating the surface of the water would help a bit on sunny days.

Good morning exo / rowanberry.
We have both a solar powered air pump (although the battery needs recharging every couple of days and a pond pump). I was happy using the pond pump untill I saw how many squillions of daphnia we had in the pond and I didn't want those to be chewed up in the pump. Or am I being soft hearted?
Cheers, Tony.

Not soft-hearted at all, Tony!
I found this on the Aquamania website:
"Daphnia are filter feeders and can be very beneficial in ponds and aquariums as they help to clear green water, as well as providing a tasty meal for most freshwater fish."
So they are hard at work helping to maintain water quality, and I would imagine any newts and frogs you have might appreciate them as well.

We have taddies and up to now a newtlet. I can see down to the bottom of our pond, 'tis a little peaty just like the becks in my native Cumbrian hills.
Cheers, Tony.

Yesterday I became concerned at the way the tads have started making bubbles up on the surface of the pond, and I ordered a floating solar oxygenerator... it's going to be cooler and cloudy this coming week, so they should be alright until it arrives. Once it comes I'll let you know how well it's works.
I was keen on the solar floating fountains, but all the reviews said they clog up in ponds so I thought the oxygenerator would be a better idea. I also ordered some Frogbit, to help provide shade later in the summer. The watercress is growning well now but might not be enough- I am trying to only have floating plants like hornwort. The pond baskets make it too difficult to keep the pond clean, I've discovered.
