On a recent day trip to London Zoo and stopping for a cuppa at the "Pickled Parrot" or something like that (£2+)! I picked up half a dozen really dark dark maroon or black conkers. Anyone out there have any idea what tree these were from? I'm going to plant 'em.
They do not seem to be old ones as they are quite heavy. If anyone is familiar with London Zoo, To the extreme right of the African Hunting dog encloser is a tree with numerous seeds or buds, any ideas out there?
Cheers, Tony.

I wonder if they might be from what is known as a Buckeye tree in the States?
Same family as horsechestnuts, but they are often darker....
The seed pods (and leaves) are also slightly different, too.
