Being an increasingly rare ,and such an important predator.I'd like to start this thread.Seen plenty harlequin larvae, but not much else. I'm sure when I was a child, they were the most common insect around!!!

Today I saw good numbers of 7-spot Ladybirds on the brownfield area in my local patch. All were on the flowers of Hoary Mustard. I couldn't see any aphids so assume they were feeding on pollen.

Saw 7-spots several times during the Winter months but nothing since early Spring - seems odd?

Have finally got posting photos figured out! Had a ladybird frenzy in my own garden last week. Aside from numerous 22-spots, my apple tree has been covered in larva pupating (I think they're 7-spot ladybirds - can anyone confirm from these pics? Now they're emerging I've also found a fair number of harlequins - large, many-spotted red with black, and large black with four red blotches). Also found this, which I think is a mealy bug ladybird larva.
