Only had one day of sunshine on the way up. Then got hit with the edges of Storm Dorian - gales and torrential rain. for two day visibility virtually nil, so could see none of the fantastic secenery, did a couple of drive slow sightseeing, only saw two dead squirrels. We did see some seals, lots of Herons and three Cerlew and 2 white-tailed Eagles in the distance, about 20 rooks behaving oddly and some oyster catchers!. Really surprised at the lack of birds, in fact we only saw one sea gull! Mind you is was overcast and very windy with the odd frequent shower. However the geology is gob smacking and those into lichens, mosses and fungi must find it seventh heaven. Also surprised at the lack of flora - wrong time of year I suppose. It was however a very relaxing holiday, marred slightly as daughter and I had bad colds, developed on the day we left to go on holiday.

What a shame that you weren't well, and the weather rough. Still, it sounds as though you managed to enjoy most of it... welcome back!
