These were all taken in or near the woods near us... marsh marigolds coming up near a boggy area; lesser Celendine is everywhere at the moment... Alcanet, nettles and goosegrass all growing happily together. My favourite was some self-seeding comfrey, growing at the entrance into the playing fields- I think it made a nice colour contrast against the red brick wall.
Every year someone, (not sure, it might be the council?) comes and sprays this comfrey with herbicide... not sure why, but if I ever catch them doing it I'll ask them why. It manages to come back every spring, but last year I was determined to save some of it from certain death and so I dug up four young plants. They didn't flower last summer (still in shock, probably!) but they are doing really well this year. I was pleased to see quite a few bees on them today.
