I couldn't believe it when I heard this on the news this morning. Fifty percent of the coral is dying, and they're going to do this??
I despair, I really do.

Given Australia is very keen on preventing non-native species of plant and animal from getting into the country, including in some cases food items, this is a bit surprising.
However, it sounds a bit like the proposals to build a golf course on part of an SSSI near the Dornoch Firth.
I, naively it seems, though SSSI status afforded almost complete protection for a site and therefore an application for development would automatically be rejected, but it seems not.

Aren't Australia one of the biggest world wide polluters any way? Another thing has anybody's seen the gold and opal mining programs on the telly the state they leave the ground in and methods they use it looks like the place has been nuked Oh Dave I think SSSI's are only protected dependent upon the amount of bung the developers offer local councils. This seems to work well for all sorts of developments ian

I'd forgotten about the scenes of Australian mining that look as if they from another planet.
Unfortunately I think you are correct about SSSIs.
