Spalford warren. I look at hundreds of pictures of fungi on line and more often then not never find a match, it's not important to me to have a positive id but sometimes you'd think one like this would be easy, it stands 8ins tall it's 10ins across give or take, a really nice standout shroom Growing under birch with oak nearby. Ian... that looks very similar to a mushroom I posted photos of in October last year...
Ruadh identified mine as being Clitocybe geotropa... do you think yours might be the same? Commonly known as trooping funnel (because often found standing in a line?) or monk's head.
