I'm going with a lichen for this one and in the same spot you'll often find a similar looking one but black with white edges and not so fleshy not sure if there the same at different stages, anyhow there were none around when I took this photo ian lichen? by ian robinson, on Flickr

When I first saw it I thought it was a green brittle gill all broken up but a closer look show no sign of gills, googling it brought nothing overly close other than dog lichen that's the black form I mention. So I solved the question over the ID on that Next time I'm that way I'll have a prod about and see if it has any sort of roots.
