I could not believe how quickly this lichen appeared covering the trunks of a Birch and the adjacent Rowan tree. It could have been because we had a day of sunshine, after what seemed like weeks of rain. I would like an ID please. Lichen on rowan tree by Helen Skelton, on Flickr

Hi Helen, I think your white lichen may be Evernia prunastri Duncan

Yes but I think Evernia prunastri, looking at photos on google,is more antler like - spiky.Someone on another site suggested Platismatia glauca which seemed to set of an argument, particularly as these are in NW Scotland.But the lichen does look more like the white lichen here.
