Guy Fawkes night is still three weeks away, but this evening the bangers have been going off non-stop.
There is Halloween to still get through, (why fireworks have become associated with this I don't know) and then there's Diwali on Nov. 7th this year.
It's not just the wildlife being stressed by this constant bombardment... MY nerves are getting frayed by it all already.

Firework night and the building of bonfires should be banned as gives yet another reason for mindless fools to harm animals by tying lighted fireworks to their bodies, not to mention hedgehogs that burn to death in bonfires. It is interesting to note supporters of the arts in which Alan is one and philosophers are very great supporters of animal rights too has they empathise, as opposed to the psychopath Ian Brady being a perfect example of one who enjoyed handling animal in order to torture them, clearly something missing to put it in laymen’s terms. The following is a list of those whom support animal rights, interesting to note the list contain supporters of the arts and philosophers having the very same thing in common empathy, analytical skills, and creativity, as opposed to cruelty in all its forms which is sadism. Sorry about going off the main topic Rowanberry but I do not liked to see animals killed or harmed in anyway whatsoever, as all members do of that I have no doubt. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animal_rights_advocatesAlan, still wandering

At least I am spared that stress now, but I used to get sick to death with the fireworks landing in the garden and the roof, having to try and keep my dog and cats calm, having to dash outside ever time one landed on the roof as my elderly mother yelled out "Go check the roof in case we are on fire". We even had one come through an upstairs window, which happened to be open at the time, during the day. I could rant on forever, especially when I see these really big displays for events - the money that is spent on them is unbelievable especially when the money could be spent on so may good causes.

Agree. On a personal level I like firework displays but get fed up, every year, with fireworks being set off almost any night from now until New Year. The middle of last week some were being set off about 1:15am.
For our dog fireworks are a disaster. He goes from a very feisty character who will let anyone and any other dog know exactly what he thinks to, quite literally, a quivering, drooling mess.
