Around half one last night had to leave the warmth of my bed for reasons easy to understand if your over 60.
Anyhow I noticed that the local crows were really on one and wondered what was going on. Having read that there was a possibility of the northern lights being visible as far down as the midlands I thought I'd stick my head out the window to see these great ribbons of light dancing across the sky and so disturbing the crows.
As I pulled back the curtains and opened the window further a bright shooting star skipped across the sky east to west and visible for almost three seconds. Well after that it was dressing gown on and down stairs I went.
Opened the back door and another bright shooting star shot across the sky west to east this time and the crows were really going for it still.
Standing and waking up in the chilly air I realised the all was not quite right and the crows calling constantly seemed wrong there was no let up in the noise. I stayed out for half an hour or so, no more shooting stars no aurora but a wonderful starry sky.
Went back to bed and arose at 6-30ish to the sound of crow alarm calls still! it seems there must be a bird scarer on a nearby phone mast along with the plastic owls that do such a good job 'not'
I must be some 5/6 hundred meters away and could clearly here it so those nearby, well lets just say I bet the council is in for some earache this morning.
Worth the chill for the the shooting stars though and the view of Venus and Jupiter just before seven this morning too
