Looks like Oil Seed Rape. One of the yellow crucifers which are related to the cabbage family.

Thanks for that, Hank- I Googled it and read that "The pollen of Oil-seed Rape ia a potent allergen, which can cause serious
allergic reactions..." I shall keep my distance from it!

Becoming very common in the roadside verges in west wales these days. I was told that you are supposed to pull it out if you see it as it is an invasive species that should not be allowed to spread outside its planting zones.

I did think about that, but it's all around the playing field... hundreds of them. Indeed, I think in many places it is already too late to stop it without some serious intervention. What the long term consequences of this might be!
