These are on a couple of old oak logs just rotting quietly away at the bottom of the garden, think the must be a honey fungus of some sort but look different to what was on them last year ian by IAN ROBINSON, on Flickr

Nice image as usual. A much more gracile species than Armillaria. At first I thought it was Mycena inclinata which is fairly common and is generally on Oak. This is a variable species with regards colour of cap and stem. However, from your images I think it is M. renati (after several decades, I've yet to come across this species!). Microscopic features easily separate these two species.

Ian, you could do a really nice mushroom calendar with all the lovely photos you've uploaded on here.
I only saw one for 2017, but I think you've taken images every bit as good!

Thank you both very much for the encouragement and information it really is appreciated. I've had another look and it appears that they may not be growing out of the oak log but from the pots the wife has stood on them both pots contain a garden centre potting compost and grasses growing in them. There all kinda drying up now but do seem to have been growing where the soil had leached out. P S the compost is called jack's magic-----so maybe there magic mushrooms by IAN ROBINSON, on Flickr
