I found this nest in a cotoneaster in our garden just a couple of weeks ago. The centre is 9cm across and the lining is smooth and very firm so I'm sure it's song thrush rather than blackbird. The moss is still green/fresh so it's this year's nest. We had noticed that there had been much more song thrush activity than usual in our garden recently although they have disappeared in the last 2 - 3 weeks. The nest is right next to our side garage door (about a foot!) which we use on a daily basis and just two feet from the only path to our front door so visitors as well must have passed by the nest and never noticed a thing! The question is, are the birds likely to reuse the nest for a second clutch of eggs this year?
