while trying to photograph my tadpoles at the allotment, I found a newt! It had yellow on it's belly and large black spots, but a plain throat. I think it was female as it seemed rather plump around its middle. My palmate newts at home have plain throats, but don't seem to get so yellow so I'm confused (easily done

I was surprised to see it so forgot to photograph it, so can smooth newts have plain throats? Cheers
