Took some photos in May 2016 of toads at one of my favourite places to visit. I always though they were more brown than green but most of them were this greenish colour. Is it still a common toad. flic.kr/p/Rin8cx

I would say common toad. The ones in the garden here are generally brownish but their colour seems to vary from time to time and on how wet they are.
The only other UK toad is the Natterjack toad. It has a yellowish stripe down the middle of the back and is much rarer than the Common toad. This is a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if common toads outnumber natterjacks by a 100 or more to 1.

Thanks Tringa.
I've just found out that dogs can be poisoned by licking or biting toads so I'll have to take care that when we are out where toads are she is kept on a lead and that we don't end up with a toad in the yard.

What I have read about toad toxin and dogs ranges from, "My dog spent a week in the vets after eating/licking a toad", to, "He frothed at the mouth a bit but after washing his mouth out and a lot to drink he was alright in about half an hour". The toads in our garden seem to keep out of the way and are never very visible; some years the only indication they are there at all is toad spawn in the pond.
