I did my count this morning; bit of a disappointing turnout... thank goodness two of the jays at least turned up!
A no-show from the goldfinches, and surprisingly the dunnocks didn't appear, either. Quite a few sparrows, two robins, two starlings, one blackbird, (if she didn't show up for her breakfast I'd be worried) and one blue tit.

Did the count yesterday but struggled to get results through to RSPB until this morning - don't know if it's my computer or their site but got there in the end. Few birds at our new address but a new property with a fairly barren garden - a lot to do this Spring. Anyway my results were 1 Rook, 1 Robin, 2 Dunnock and 16 (yes really!) House Sparrows.

I started my count today, and decided as I have 3 feeding areas, Just to concentrate on one first, and included those on the ground around the feeders and along the tree line along the back of the feeders. Chaffinch 30, Goldfinch 2, Coal Tits 10, Great tits 5, Blue tits 3, Dunnoch 2, Robin 2, Jays 4, Blackbirds 5, Sparrow Hawk 1!!!. So that put pay to that count. Last year when I tried to enter my bird sightings and numbers, I kept getting pop up queries as to the number. I took four or five attempts and I nearly gave up. Maybe I should not be doing the count as mine is not a garden but mixed woodland and a sort of garden area, which they did not have on their list of bird watching places. I am also blessed with having a huge number of birds, there can be upwards of 60 chaffinch around the feeders. What is very noticeable this year is the lack of Greenfinch. Anyway I will have another go later when Sparrow Hawk give up. Sparrow Hawk by Helen Skelton, on Flickr

The sparrowhawk might have(sorry will have) put paid to your count but that is more than a pretty good count anyway, and you got a sparrowhawk too.
Here the count was much as last year. Goldfinches still at number 1, closely followed by house sparrows.

I think that's an amazing count... and you got that wonderful photo as well. There can't be many that can include a sparrowhawk in their total- AND 30 chaffinches!

Well I nearly gave up trying to enter my count, wouldn't accept my login, tried 3 times and then started again with out logging in. Quite like their new format for entry, but don't think they have allowed for rural bird watchers, but at least you could add birds. Only one of their 'other wild life' was up to mark and no way of adding badger, pine marten, red squirrel, feral cats, voles etc. No way of changing pond to burn (stream) or lochan (small lake) Garden yes but no woodland, wetland, scrub. Any way I have done it. Would have loved to somewhere put that you could easily treble my numbers of each bird. just recently daughter and I counted 90+ chaffinches and 34 coal tits. I forgot to add my hoodies. the sparrowhawk is a resident (not surprisingly with so many birds) I also have a resident Buzzard and two resident hoodies.
