I got an email today from the RSPB about their Big Garden Bird Watch... it's going to be January 28-30 next year. Got to remember to put that in the calendar, (which I've already bought... it's birds of prey for 2017. )

I am blessed (or not) with having a gob smacking number of birds so when I tried to fill in the form on the net it kept querying my numbers.

It's all your jays... probably no one else in the whole of the UK has got twenty-plus jays. Mine are so uncooperative- they know when it's Bird Watch and won't put in an appearance until the day after the count.

No I only 5 permanent jay residents, it raises to 15+ when breeding but think the gang of five shoo off the youngsters when they are old enough to fend for themselves. It is all the smaller birds that I have 100s of. Of the larger permanent residents I have 4 GSWs, 2 Crows, 15 Wood Pigeons, 1 Sparrow Hawk and 1 buzzard. Every other day visit by Heron and when the lower ground is flooded lots of Mallards. all of which are a delight.
