It's a Mullein Moth caterpillar

Thank you. That,s a new one for me. I'lol be watching those caterpillars. I see from UK moths site most often found as caterpillars. Moth is quite camouflaged. Any tips for catching sight of it?

I had my first Mullein moth in a trap a few weeks back, looked just like a piece of wood. No idea how anyone would recognise them in the field! Nige

That is what I though throw picture. I will set my trap at weekend and look out for bits of wood!

You might be lucky and get an adult, but it's a bit late in the season for them now. Might get the odd one hanging around given the Spring we've had though!

Caterpillars were gone today - just leaving behind a lot of holey leaves! What is the timing of their life cycle from now on? (Supposing they have escaped preditors!)
