This crow flew into our apple tree this morning and started pecking away... theyr'e not even ripe yet, but he seemed to be enjoying them. It's the first time that I've noticed how the feathers at the top of the wing are quite blue-ish, which I thought was interesting; they are in the same location as a jay's blue and white feathers. Much to his annoyance I chased him away after I took these photos... those apples make a nice crumble come end of summer! Very nice photos you have their Rowanberry, I noticed a buzzard eating windblown apples only last year too. I also know what you mean about the colour of carrion crows feathers; here is one I picked up just yesterday crow at the bottom rook at the top, the fluorescent blue shines extremely well in the right light / angle on the outer web.
