While I was trying to photograph the feathers I posted about in another thread, this blew onto the table. It's got to be the absolute smallest feather I've ever seen! I am presuming it's from a sparrow; they seem to be loosing them all over the place at the moment. Tiny Feather by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

Some small body feathers can be very difficult to id if not impossible unless they have some sort of recognisable pattern, it can be done by having them DNA identified but this is expensive to have done or so they tell me. Even the wren's body feather can be identified because of its pattern, I did have some but I cannot find them the moment! But here are some small feathers that can be identified, goldfinch, Sparrowhawk, small tawny owl body feather. Alan Attachments:

As Alan says not easy, but I suspect you're correct with House Sparrow.
